Gear shaper is a metal-cutting machine tool that uses a gear shaping cutter to generate gears for internal and external spur and helical gears, as well as other gear-shaped components. The process of using a gear shaping cutter to shape the teeth of gears, racks, and other components is called gear shaping. During gear shaping, the cutter performs a reciprocating cutting motion while simultaneously rolling against the workpiece.
