Keyway broach is a special cutting tool used to process semicircular keyways on mechanical parts. It is divided into two structural types: a circular cutter body and a flat cutter body. The circular cutter body is cylindrical and has a higher precision. The flat cutter body adopts a rectangular cross-section and is positioned with a guide sleeve to adapt to the processing requirements of keyways with different apertures [2]. The tool forms a keyway by cutting multiple teeth in sequence. The surface roughness of the processed surface can reach below Ra1.6μm, and the dimensional accuracy reaches IT7 level. It is suitable for processing rectangular, semicircular, and spline grooves of materials such as carbon steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel.
