Industry: Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) for Aircraft

Challenge: Repairing and remanufacturing worn internal splines in large, expensive titanium alloy engine fan shafts. The traditional method was manual welding and re-machining, which was time-consuming and risked damaging the valuable core component.

Online Discovery: Their lead repair technician found a niche discussion forum for aerospace MRO where our application engineer had posted about on-site broaching solutions.

Initial Contact & Virtual Meeting: The problem was unique: the broach had to be portable or the shaft brought to it. We discussed the feasibility of a mobile setup versus installing a machine in their repair hangar.

Site Visit: We brought a portable power pack and broaching tool to their facility to perform a demonstration repair on a scrapped shaft. This proved the concept and helped them plan the workflow.

Purchase Decision: They installed a LC6130B Horizontal Broaching machine in their repair bay due to its ability to handle the long, heavy shafts. The machine’s flexibility for different shaft sizes was critical.

Usage & Feedback: “This machine has revolutionized our shaft repair division. We can now restore a spline to like-new condition in a matter of hours instead of days, saving our customers significant time and money. It preserves the structural integrity of the original part, which is a huge safety and reliability advantage. It’s the definitive solution for this challenging repair.”
